Why do so many people deny being Sci-Fi and/or Fantasy fans, yet out of the Top 20 Movies of all time, 14 are Sci-Fi/Fantasy, 3 are Animation, 2 Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and only ONE is what you’d call a ‘normal’ movie, and that is Titanic at Number 1.
So if so many people go to see Star Wars movies, Superhero/Hobbit/Boy Magician fantasy movies, and various other Science Fiction movies, why are there so few people who will openly admit that they like these types of movies?
Come out of the closet people, say it loud and say it proud, "I am a Science Fiction Fan".

I can’t believe that Heath Ledger has died, this has got to be one of the most tragic young deaths in Australian show business history.
I truly have always thought he was a fantastic actor, and even more so because of the fact he was mainly self taught and learned on the job.

Well the Aussie Millions is over for another year, and once again I didn’t get to play in it.
For those that don’t know, this poker tournament has been held at Crown Casino starting July 1998, originally being called the Australasian Poker Championships, for a $1,000 buy in Limit Holdem tournament with 74 entrants.
The “Aussie Millions” as we know it now, moved to January in 2001 getting 40 entrants with the new $5,000 buy in and then in 2003 it was a $10,000 attracting 122 entrants from all over the world.
In January 2005, the Aussie Millions reached new heights with a record 263 participants paying $10,000 each to enter the No Limit Holdem Main Event, generating the biggest prize pool ever in the Southern Hemisphere of $2,630,000. Over half the field was from overseas including players from New Zealand, England, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, USA, Sweden, Holland, Canada, Italy and Lebanon.
In 2006 the Aussie Millions proved itself as one of the world’s top multi-million dollar Poker events when 418 players competed for a slice of the AUD$4,18,000 prize pool including some of the biggest names in the Poker world such as WSOP Champion Joe Hachem, Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Kathy Leibert, Scott Fischman, Chip Jett, David Williams, Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Sexton, Tony G, Jesse Jones, Clonnie Gowan plus many more.
The 2007 Aussie Millions again exceeded all expectations with main event player numbers increasing by over 70% year on year, attracting 747 entrants. The event was filmed by Fox Sports Net for the second consecutive year and with high profile pro player Gus Hansen winning the event and collecting the $1.5 million first prize, it aired in the US in mid 2007 and most recently here in Australia on Foxtel’s FOX8 channel during this years Aussie Millions.
So anyway, back to me. I really want to play in this tournament one day, the problem is the $10,500 entry fee. Now I know there are satellites to get in, I just haven’t been successful with them yet. This year, as soon as the online qualifiers start (usually towards the end of the year) I’m going to make the best efforts I can to get in. I might even start a home qualifier set of satellites for me and friends to get in.
If you’re interested then let me know so we can start it ASAP. We’ll have either weekly or fortnightly tourneys, with a set buy in for each person (which goes towards the 2009 Aussie Millions entry fee) and we play for points. The winner at the end of the season, that will last until Dec, will get paid entry into the 2009 Aussie Millions. How good would that be

Poker is a game I love, but it is also the most frustrating game in the world. Two weeks ago I won 2 tournaments back to back, on Monday and Tuesday, then I came second on Friday. Since then though I can’t get a thing right, it’s so annoying.
